The Balvenie Single Barrel Sherry Cask has been matured exclusively in a single European oak sherry butt for at least 15 years. The term ‘Single Barrel’ conveys the unique nature of the single malt whisky, which has been drawn from a single cask of a single distillation.

Tasting Notes

. Nose: Tone of muscovado sugar and dark berries upfront. There's this thin layer of baking spices with the faintest vanilla and bitter musk or chestnut at the back.

. Palate: Velvety softness with a dark cherry that's been dipped in a little honey. It's quickly followed by more of that basking spice I found on the nose and a soft oak, leaving it with the Balvenie profile that I've learned to love.

. Finish: Medium in length but very juicy with lots of stone fruit, oak, and a hint of dark chocolate. The higher abv finally comes in with a little heat for me, but it isn't abrasive. Instead, it really adds a slight "oompf" at the end.
